David has over 30 years experience of working within wealth management and he has the knowledge and experience that you need in order to be confident that your financial plans are in safe hands.
David's expertise covers the broad spectrum of financial planning especially in the areas of wealth management. He also specialises in personal and household cash flow management and Pension planning.
David helped set up and establish Harlands Financial Planning in 1991, which was later to become HWM Financial Management, and also has considerable experience in tax planning matters and is able to help clients with both personal and business Financial Planning issues.
David's role as Managing Director of HWM Financial Management allows him to offer clients his considerable experience in all these areas.
David has 26 years experience in the Financial Services industry, 12 of these years working in Harlands Financial Planning as an Independent Financial Adviser, prior to the company becoming a Partner Practice of St. James's Place in 2012.
He has held the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate for a number of years and holds a specialist qualification relating to Equity Release.
David specialises in strategic pension planning, investment planning and tax mitigation. He has extensive experience and understanding of business planning and development over the many years he has advised corporate clients.
HWM Financial Management and David specialise in providing face to face advice to both new and long term clients and intergenerational dealing assists in a smooth transition of wealth and no unwelcome surprises.
David has vast experience in working with his client’s other professional advisers i.e. Accountants and Solicitors.
Gary has been working in the financial services industry for over 15 years and has built up a wealth of experience and knowledge of the financial services industry.
Gary is fully Diploma qualified to provide advice direct to clients and can specifically assist with corporate protection needs in addition to assisting with individual financial planning needs.
Gary's duties include ensuring clients' financial affairs are looked after and regularly reviewed and ensures that the team are all working together to meet our clients' needs and expectations.

Rachael has been with the company since July 2016 and deals with the office administration. Rachael’s duties within the team are meeting and greeting clients, diary management, post distribution, answering and filtering phone calls and general administration duties around the office. Rachael is qualified to Level 3 in Business Administration and is an accredited administrator for the St. James’s Place Partnership.
Stacey has over 8 years experience as a Financial Planning Administrator and her duties within the team consist of meeting and greeting clients, general administration, organising appointments, portfolio valuations, portfolio performance reviews, preparing personalised client reports and submitting applications. Stacey is qualified to Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration & Customer Services and is an accredited administrator for St. James’s Place Partnership.
James has been with HWM Financial Management for over 3 years where he has taken on a full-time role as a Trainee Paraplanner.
His main role involves the completion of suitability letters for clients, documenting advice sets, producing portfolio valuation reports, portfolio performance reviews and other office administration for clients. He has recently become Diploma qualified by undertaking modules through The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to become a Paraplanner.
Dawn joined the team in 2018 as an office administrator. Dawn has over 20 years administrative experience, her duties include meeting and greeting clients, answering and filtering phone calls, general administration and portfolio valuations.
